RELG 482: Exegesis of the Greek New Testament
Offerings at McGill: Winter 2015, 2016, 2017

This methods seminar, which is designed for upper-level undergraduates and masters-level seminarians, focuses on developing expertise in reading and interpreting ancient texts.  After an initial introduction to philosophical hermeneutics and interpretive theory, attention is given to reading select New Testament texts in light of historical, social-scientific, literary, ideological, and theological concerns. The course is a shared seminar between students with and without knowledge of Greek (RELG 482 and 411, respectively): all students meet together for two hours, followed by one-hour each of language-specific tutorial.

McGill Description of RELG 411: A seminar in exegesis on the basis of representative passages chosen from different parts of the New Testament in English.
